I know, I missed this. I am very overwhelmed with all that is happening right now, and I feel like I am on a hamster wheel! Click for more tell me thursday stories!
The story behind the teapot is this. When I was a child my Aunt’s (by marriage) mother was very old. I would say she was well into her 90’s, and had been a victorian lady in her prime. She lived alone in the house she had spent her entire married life in, a fabulous folk victorian in Michigan.
This tea set was in her kitchen. It is where I learned to love lemon drops, red counter tops and chickens! She was a grandmother to me, as I did not have one of my own.
She would make tea and we would sit and talk. I loved her and I loved her stories.
Well, she passed away and my Aunt gave me the tea set. I had it for years, and then one of my children broke it accidentally. I am the type of person that does not get bent out of shape about things breaking..I comforted the child, cried and moved on.
A few years ago, Marc saw this on ebay and bought it for me for Valentine’s Day.
The exact same thing. It is dusty because it spends it’s time sitting behind glass!

What a wonderful story. How wonderful to be able to get those memories back and to now keep them safe behind glass.
